Life is GOOD! I just love the little Jake dude on those T-shirts. They make me smile. To share a little about me…I’m your basic green tea drinking, tree hugging health nut with a passion for LIFE. May 15, 2009 I celebrated 9 years of remission from AML. A scary diagnosis that went from a 67% chance of recovery down to 27% down to 3% in a week’s time back when I was diagnosed in 2000. I went from a healthy muscular weight of 126 pounds (at 5′ 4″) to 96 pounds in less than a week due to a heavy round of induction chemo, with heavier antibiotics (when I was admitted, I had bilateral pneumonia) and little nutrition. What got me through that first year of hard chemo and subsequent 3 years of daily injections were several things–massive drugs, a leukemia doctor who I believe wanted me to live as badly as I wanted to, tremendous support from true friends and family, a heck of a lot of prayer, and of course, a focus on HEALTH. I found a focus on being healthy was one of the few things in my control during this time–what I ate, my attitude, my actions. I loved being active and athletic prior to the illness, but after my diagnosis “being well” took on an entirely new meaning. If I can make a difference to anyone in getting healthy, losing weight, gaining energy, improving performance or just making this world a better place to live, it would be an honor. So, use this site for information, warped humor, a fresh outlook, training ideas and borrowed wisdom on how we can all live fuller, healthier lives filled with wonder, joy, accomplishments and love. And since you asked, I am 47 years old, I’m a single mom with two wonderful kids (ages 12 and 14), and a displaced Florida beach girl who currently resides in Texas.
Lisa is one of the strongest women I have ever known, and believe me, I have known some STRONG women…. not just physically, but mentally emotionally and every other way you can name. I am proud to call her a true, dear friend.
GIRL POWER!
