Amazing how time flies…here we are heading into the last week of January 2010. Many of you set wellness related goals for yourself and your family. Now is a good time for a resolution check up! While building that healthier body, maintaining it, or improving performance requires attention, effort and work, small steps can help you reap BIG rewards.
Here are 10 simple ways to help you reach those goals:
1. Hydrate, hydrate , hydrate. With water, that is. And while you are at it, eliminate a sugar drink or two. (soda, juices)
2. Add another vegetable or fruit to your daily diet.
3. Replace whole milk with 2%, or if drinking 2%, move to skim milk.
4. Increase the # of steps taken each day. Try keeping track of your progress with a pedometer.
5. Establish regular sleep and wake times for everyone in the family.
6. Limit TV/video games/computer time to 1-2 hours a day, especially for children.
7. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 when outdoors.
8. Install smoke detectors in your home and be sure to change the batteries regularly.
9. Require everyone in your car to wear safety belts.
10. Expand your social circle by meeting people at your place of worship, the gym, a book club or discussion group.
