There is something exciting about the beginning of a new year. It reminds me of the first days of spring with so many opportunities just waiting to be acted upon. Last week we talked about the power of the pen– writing goals down, posting them, and then checking off your accomplishments along the way. We also talked about how small choices made throughout the day are easier to commit to. At the end of the day, all those little changes can add up to a GOOD day of movement and health!
My challenge to you, as we look forward to 2010, is to take a moment at the beginning of each day to inhale deeply… maybe as you’re sipping your green tea. (http://chinesefood.about.com/library/weekly/aa011400a.htm ) Slow down and consider the many opportunities before you. Opportunities to maximize time (making TV time workout time or run while catching up with a friend) and building in fitness breaks at the office (get up and stretch or walk reports to a co-worker), for examples.
Most importantly, count your blessings. Breathe. Believe in yourself. Be excited. And, create your change now.
Because you can.
Happy, Healthy New Year!
